Waymist Privacy Policy
Last updated: 15 October 2026
Your trust matters to Waymist. This policy explains how we handle personal information when you visit waymist.com, use our mobile app, make an enquiry or booking, contact support, or use our travel community features. It covers information handled by Waymist; independent operators, payment providers and other external services also have their own privacy notices.
1. Who to contact
For privacy questions, correction, deletion, consent withdrawal or a complaint, contact Waymist using the details below. Use the subject “Privacy request” and provide enough information to identify the relevant account or booking. Do not include passwords, OTPs, CVV codes or a complete payment-card number.

2. Information we collect
- Account and contact information: name, email address, telephone number, sign-in identifiers, profile information and address where supplied or required.
- Traveller and booking information: passenger names, ages, genders where required by the operator, routes, dates, selected seats, boarding and dropping points, package or rental choices, booking references and service history. Identification, licence or permit details may be required for a particular service.
- Payments and refunds: transaction references, payment status, amount, currency, payment method category and refund correspondence. Payment providers such as Razorpay process payment credentials through their own systems. Do not send card credentials or UPI PINs to Waymist support.
- Support and community content: enquiries, messages, complaints, reviews, profile content, photos and information you choose to share. Publicly posted content may be visible to other users.
- Technical and usage information: device and browser details, IP address, app interactions, page visits, diagnostic logs, crash reports and notification identifiers where collected by our services.
- Special travel requirements: health, fitness, dietary, accessibility or emergency-contact information you voluntarily provide or that is reasonably needed to arrange the requested service safely. Share only what is necessary through a private support channel.
If you give us another passenger’s or emergency contact’s information, make sure you are authorised to do so and let them know about this policy.
3. Why we use information
We use necessary information to operate accounts, authenticate users, respond to enquiries, arrange and confirm travel, issue tickets, coordinate suppliers, manage payments and refunds, provide service messages, investigate fraud and complaints, improve reliability and meet legal obligations. Optional marketing and optional uses requiring consent are handled separately from information needed to deliver a booking. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Sharing with service providers
We share relevant information with the providers needed for your service, such as bus operators and distributors including Akbar, guides, accommodation providers, transport teams and rental partners. Payment processors receive the details needed to collect or return payments. Hosting, communications, customer-support and technology providers may process information for service delivery. Our app uses Google/Firebase services for functions such as authentication, notifications, analytics and crash diagnostics. We may disclose information when required by law or necessary to address fraud, security incidents or legal claims, subject to applicable safeguards.
Supplier access is for the relevant booking or operational purpose; it does not mean every supplier receives all account information. Suppliers and technology providers may process information in India or other countries. Applicable contractual and legal safeguards govern such processing; we do not promise that all data remains in India.
5. Cookies, analytics and device permissions
The website may use cookies or similar storage for sign-in, security, preferences and traffic measurement. The app uses local storage for settings and payment-recovery references, and analytics or crash-reporting tools for service improvement. Manage cookies through your browser and permissions through device settings; blocking necessary storage may affect account or booking functions.
Notification permission, where requested, supports booking messages and other enabled notifications. Camera, photos or location access applies only where a feature actually requests it and you grant the relevant permission. This policy does not imply that the app continuously tracks your location. Optional promotional messages can be stopped through the available unsubscribe option or by contacting support; essential booking, payment and security messages may still be sent.
6. Retention and security
We retain information for as long as needed for the purpose for which it was collected, including travel fulfilment, refunds, accounting, disputes, fraud prevention and statutory records. Different records may require different retention periods. When no longer needed, information should be deleted or de-identified, subject to lawful retention and backup processes. We use reasonable technical and organisational measures, but no online system or communication method can be guaranteed completely secure.
7. Your choices and requests
You may request access to information about you, correction of inaccurate details, deletion of information no longer required, withdrawal of optional consent, or assistance with a privacy grievance, subject to applicable law and reasonable identity checks. Rights under Indian data-protection legislation apply to the extent the relevant provisions are in force. Withdrawing information necessary to operate a requested service may prevent us from providing that service; we will explain the effect.
Use account-deletion controls where available or contact support for help. Deleting an account does not automatically cancel a booking, erase a pending refund, or remove records we must lawfully retain. Please resolve active travel and payment matters with support. Requests are not a guarantee of immediate deletion from every backup or independent supplier system.
8. Children and promotional images
Bookings and accounts must be managed by an adult. A parent or authorised guardian should provide and manage information required for a child’s travel. If you believe a child has supplied information without the required authorisation, contact us so we can investigate. We seek appropriate permission before using identifiable customer photographs or videos for promotion; participation in a trip alone is not unrestricted promotional consent. You may decline future promotional use by contacting us.
9. External services, complaints and updates
Links, maps, social sign-in and payment screens may take you to independent services. Review their notices before sharing information. For an unresolved concern, email us with “Privacy grievance” and request escalation to the responsible officer. We will handle requests and complaints within applicable legal timelines and explain any verification or lawful limitation. This policy may be updated as our services change; the date above identifies the current version. Material changes affecting consent will be handled as required by law.
For booking and refund conditions, read our Terms & Conditions.
